There's so much to do in the home of New Zealand's biggest sports festival
Wellington has been named the 4th top city in the WORLD to visit next year by Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2011! Yes, we said in the world. As in the whole freaking globe, planet, on earth, etc. The guide also reckons Wellington may just be the "coolest little capital in the world", and New Zealand's "most innovative and inspiring city". Clearly these people know a thing or two.
The coolest little capital in the world is host to eight 2011 Rugby World Cup matches including two quarter-finals. Check out www.wellingtonnz2011.com for all the rugby and Festival of Carnival events.
One of the cool things about Wellington is that everything in the downtown area is within walking distance. Party at the Westpac Stadium, and then play on just 20 minutes walk away - at the downtown party zones, Courtenay Place and Cuba Street. Here you’ll find tiny, tucked-away bars, quirky cafes, award-winning restaurants and buzzing nightlife.
If you have some downtime from all the Hertz Sevens action, head to Te Papa, New Zealand’s national museum, visit some funky fashion boutiques or enjoy a local music gig.
