South Africa have won the Cup only once at the Hertz Sevens back in 2002 and after losing the final to New Zealand at their home tournament in December, they will be eager to do the same and upset the hosts in Wellington this February. Currently third on the leader board behind Fiji and New Zealand, the side has made a strong start to the series, but only points separate the top teams and they will need to be on top of their game in Wellington and for the remainder of the series if they want to repeat their success from 2008/2009 and pick up their second HSBC Sevens World Series title.
South Africa's Cheerleaders
Between aisles 6 and 7 the 'TEAM CECIL AFRIKA' Cheerleaders will have you up in your seats supporting South Africa each time the hit the field.
From midday Thursday 2nd February until 6pm Saturday 4th February you can text vote for your favourite cheerleader squad by texting* the name of the country they're supporting to 5678. E.g. RSA. The three squads with the most public votes are then judged and the winning squad takes home $7,000! Plus you go in the draw to win two tickets to the 2013 Hertz Sevens.
