The Australians, sporting a new lime green strip for the 2011/2012 HSBC Sevens World Series, sit just outside of the top 5 heading into the Wellington leg. Making the Cup semi-finals at their home tournament in the Gold Coast was a strong result for the side before going on to win the Plate in Dubai. Australia’s only tournament win in Wellington was back in 2001. The 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games silver medallists are being led by Ed Jenkins. After five years with the team, the former vice-captain has been promoted to lead the youthful side this series.
Australia's Cheerleaders
Between aisles 1 and 2 the 'The Outback Auzzies' Cheerleaders will have you up in your seats supporting Australia each time the hit the field.
From midday Thursday 2nd February until 6pm Saturday 4th February you can text vote for your favourite cheerleader squad by texting* the name of the country they're supporting to 5678. E.g. AUS. The three squads with the most public votes are then judged and the winning squad takes home $7,000! Plus you go in the draw to win two tickets to the 2013 Hertz Sevens.

We are a group of girls who all met at Massey uni in Palmy and became great friends after living together in the halls of residence. We then decided to live together in second and third year split between two flats next to each other. We all study a very diverse range of subjects and have very different personalities but love each other for it!
We loved living with friends all around and had so much fun doing lots of different things like road trips and stuff. We really wanted to go to the sevens but, being students, it is expensive so we entered the cheerleader competition, with very little dancing or cheering skills! We are supporting Aussie because our friends over the ditch need a bit of support over here and we are in it for the fun of it.
